Region 10 Orientation and Mobility Specialist Micha Seely and her student Emma took a walk to practice outdoor travel in a commercial area. Emma, who has a visual impairment, had help navigating thanks to a new source-her sunglasses!

Emma was wearing the Bose Altos sunglasses, Bluetooth glasses that can tell her her location, upcoming intersections, and the directions the intersecting streets go. It also announces landmarks and businesses around her as she walks, as well as alleys and driveways as she approaches them.

By pairing the glasses with Soundscape, the app is able to provide her with an audio beacon to help guide her in case she veers or makes a wrong turn. For walking directions, she is able to use Apple Maps.

After giving Emma the Altos at the start of June, this was Micha's second time getting to work with her on using them.
