Several districts across Region 10 are starting to receive a great, new resource from the Region 10 Visual Impairment team - a Brailleant Library Kit! Part of Region 10's Brailleant Campaign to promote the use of braille, the Library Kits were developed as a tool to be used with students who are braille readers and their sighted peers.
These kits contain over 30 books, preschool through 2nd-grade reading levels, and are designed to support students’ literacy development by providing accessible reading materials. How the teacher chooses to use the materials is up to them.
Ten Brailleant Library kits were produced in the first round of this project at a cost of approximately $24,000, making the value of each kit $2400.
