Intern Information

Congratulations on securing a teaching position! You are embarking on an exciting and challenging journey toward certification. As an intern and classroom teacher, you will have a rigorous set of responsibilities. It is crucial to effectively manage your time to meet both the certification requirements and your school duties.
To begin the internship process, please email Kelly Vasquez at kelly.vasquez@region10.org to request the necessary paperwork. Once the completed documents are submitted, you will receive confirmation of your enrollment in the online course, Internship: Professional Practices, where all internship requirements and timelines will be outlined. You will gain immediate access to the course to ensure you remain in compliance with the program.
In accordance with state rules and program requirements, you must complete 50 hours of field-based observation, a minimum of 150 hours of coursework, and achieve a passing score on the TExES content exam(s) before you are eligible for a Statement of Eligibility (SOE), which is required to apply for teaching positions.
If you qualify as a late hire, you have 90 days from the start of your internship to fulfill these requirements. Please consult with your program consultant for guidance on specific coursework and deadlines.
