Important: Clinical Teaching Experience (CTE) placements are coordinated through a collaborative process between the Region 10 Certification Program and school districts.

Please do not contact school districts directly regarding placement. For assistance, please reach out to your consultant.

The Region 10 Certification Program offers a Clinical Teaching Experience (CTE) option for completing your certification. The Clinical Teaching Experience is equivalent to a University Student Teaching Program.

CTE Requirements

What are the requirements to participate in the Clinical Teaching Experience (CTE)?

  • Completion of all program coursework and field-based experience hours before beginning CTE.

  • Passage of all required examinations for certification.

  • Submission of an additional application and interview with Region 10 Certification personnel. This interview will allow you to ask questions and gain clarification on the CTE expectations and requirements.

CTE placements require 490 hours of full-time classroom experience. While this is an unpaid position, the practicum fee must still be paid to Region 10 Certification for certification approval.

During the Clinical Teaching Experience, you will start by observing your assigned mentor and gradually take on more teaching responsibilities until you are teaching a full day.

As a CTE candidate, you will be expected to balance the demanding roles and responsibilities of a classroom teacher. Managing your schedule to meet both certification and school requirements will be essential.

You will be notified of your enrollment in the CTE: Professional Practices course, where all CTE requirements and timelines will be outlined in detail.
