Region 10 is thrilled to announce Lauren Stewart of DeSoto ISD as our 2025 Elementary Teacher of the year! Lauren Stewart currently serves as the campus lead special education teacher at Frank D. Moates Elementary in DeSoto ISD where she supports third through fifth grade students. Ms. Stewart is a champion for students with special needs and is passionate about implementing innovative strategies, utilizing data-driven insights, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the success of every child under her care. Recognizing the need for enhanced support and resources, Ms. Stewart created a comprehensive program of professional development sessions, newsletters, and informational materials, enabling parents, staff, and community members to become effective advocates for inclusive education. She also works to connect her students with the community through hands-on volunteer opportunities as well as cross-curricular, immersive learning experiences with local artists, scientists, and community leaders.
