STEP 2 - Student Eligibility

Students eligible to receive Title I, Part A services must meet two criteria:

  1. Residential eligibility: students must reside in the LEA Title I, Part A attendance area, regardless of PNP school location.

  2. Academic need: students must be failing, or at-risk of failing, to meet high academic standards based on multiple objective criteria.

Poverty is NOT an eligibility criterion for Title I, Part A services. Once a pool of eligible students is determined, the LEA prioritizes student needs to determine which students will be served. Parental permission is not required for services; however, a collaborative team of students, classroom teachers, Title I teachers, and parents working together improves success rates.
